As seen in fig1 and fig2, there are usually two parts to a sectional denture, each part having an individual path of insertion. Some have a swinging section that locks into position when closed, others have two separate sections. The terms first and second parts are used as a result of their sequence of insertion by the patient.

A common method of securing the parts is a bolt and lock. This is similar to the bold action of a rifle and is manufactured in our laboratory. Other methods to hold the different parts together include, Split Post (made in the laboratory) or Vario Stud attachments such as those from Brendent and others.

This of type appliance should be engineered in the laboratory during a consultation with the prescribing dentist
